Welcome to Edinburgh – The Athens of the North
Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city is very beautiful and holds World Heritage Status. The magnificent setting and fascinating history are undoubtedly the main reasons for many visits to the city, but once here it is not only the magnificent buildings and elegant Georgian crescents of the New Town but the ancient cobbled streets and medieval passages of the Old Town that provide inspiration.
There are the many places of interest and things to do – discover Edinburgh’s ancient castle, climb Arthur’s Seat, find out about volcanoes in Dynamic Earth, visit The Palace of Holyrood and of course its neighbour the Scottish Parliament building – to name just a few. A visit to Edinburgh would not be complete without a visit to the cosmopolitan centre of Leith, home to the Royal Yacht Britannia not to mention many good restaurants, Ocean Terminal shopping centre and a casino.
Within a few minutes walk from the apartment there are a number of good restaurants and an excellent delicatessen - Victor Hugo’s, in addition to a large number of good restaurants, bistros, pubs and bars in and around the city centre. Recommendations from previous guests can be found in the apartment in our ‘Good Grub’ book!
